Vaal Sailing Centre runs 2-day keelboat beginners courses over weekends with a maximum of 4 participants.    The outcome of this course is Competent Deckhand whereby the participants are capable of crewing on keelboats or even skippering their own boat.   A further 2-day advanced course is available the outcome of which participants are
capable of skippering a yacht smaller than 9M.  A Skippers Ticket >9M is issued.   An inland skippers certificate is required for boats greater than 9M.
